STEAM Studios
Here at Athens Renaissance, we believe the most meaningful learning happens when students can see how what they're studying connects to the real world. Our STEAM Studios bring science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to life through hands-on, project-based learning experiences designed to challenge, inspire, and engage.
Through our studios, students have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of skills connected to real professional fields. Whether they're developing their artistic voice, designing digital media, diving into scientific inquiry, communicating through digital platforms, or building and programming robotics, students are gaining experience that goes far beyond the textbook.
Our STEAM Studios are seamlessly woven into the project-based learning students engage in throughout the school day, giving every student the chance to think, create, and problem-solve like the professionals of tomorrow.

Robotics
Our Robotics Studio is home to a thriving FIRST Robotics program that gives students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade the opportunity to explore engineering, programming, teamwork, and real-world problem solving in an exciting, competitive environment.
Our high school students (Grades 9-12) participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), where they design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to compete in an action-packed game revealed each January. Teams compete on a themed field as part of a three-team alliance, embodying the spirit of Coopertition®---a unique blend of cooperation and competition that sets FIRST apart. Beyond the build, FRC teams also develop a team identity, engage in fundraising, and work to advance appreciation for STEM within their communities, all under the guidance of experienced adult mentors.
Middle school students (Grades 6-8) participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), a hands-on competition where teams design, build, and program their own robots to complete specific tasks and challenges. FTC encourages creative engineering solutions, collaborative teamwork, and critical thinking in a supportive and engaging competitive setting.
Our younger learners (Grades K-5) are introduced to the world of robotics and coding through FIRST LEGO League, where they explore real-world problems and develop solutions using LEGO-based robotics in a fun, age-appropriate format.
From kindergarten to graduation, our FIRST programs grow with our students, building the skills, confidence, and passion that prepare them for whatever comes next.

Graphic Design
Our Graphic Design Studio gives students the opportunity to develop real, marketable skills by working with industry-standard tools and technology used by design professionals every day. Students gain hands-on experience with equipment such as laser cutters, vinyl cutters, heat presses, sublimation printers, and wide format printers, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud software and more.
But Graphic Design at ARS goes beyond learning tools and techniques. Students put their skills to work by creating professionally crafted products that support and enhance their project-based learning experiences. From concept to finished product, student designers contribute meaningful, tangible work that is showcased to a public audience of fellow students, family, and community members.
Whether they are designing signage, promotional materials, branded merchandise, or visual displays, students in our Graphic Design Studio experience what it truly means to create with purpose and present with pride.

Fine Arts
Our Fine Arts Studio is a space where creativity has no limits. Students have the opportunity to express themselves and develop their artistic voice through a variety of visual arts media, including drawing, painting, sculpting, and mixed media. Whether they are just beginning to explore their creative side or looking to deepen an existing passion, their Fine Arts Studio welcomes artists at every level.
Like all of our STEAM Studios, Fine Arts is woven is woven directly into the project-based learning experience at ARS. Students use their artistic skills to create meaningful, thoughtfully crafted work that contributes to real projects presented to a public audience. Their work doesn't just hang on a wall, it tells a story, communicates an idea, and represents the heart of what our students are learning and creating.
Through the Fine Arts Studio, students discover that art is not just a form of self-expression, it's a powerful tool for communication, connection, and bringing ideas to life.

Digi-Comm
Our Digi-Comm Studio brings the world of digital media to life, giving students hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used by communications professionals in today's fast-paced, media-driven world. Students develop skills in audio and video recording and editing using equipment including cameras, microphones, and green screens, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud software and more.
Like all of our STEAM Studios, Digi-Comm is fully integrated into the project-based learning experience at ARS. Students use their digital communication skills to produce compelling content that supports and amplifies real projects, bringing stories to life through video, audio, and other digital media. Their finished work is showcased to a public audience, giving student creators the experience of producing content with a real purpose and a real audience.
From scripting and filming to editing and presenting, students in our Digi-Comm Studio learn what it means to communicate powerfully, creatively, and professionally in the digital age.
Science

Our Science Studio is where curiosity meets investigation. Students engage in a variety of hands-on, inquiry-based experiments and lessons that challenge them to observe, question, analyze, and draw conclusions---the same skills that drive real scientific discovery.
The Science Studio plays a foundational role in our project-based learning experience at ARS, fueling research, exploration, and critical thinking that sits at the heart of every project. While its connection to the final product may be less visible than some of our other studios, the scientific inquiry and reasoning students develop here is woven throughout everything they create and present.
By grounding students in the process of asking good questions and seeking evidence-based answers, the Science Studio helps build the kind of analytical thinkers and curious learners who are prepared to tackle real-world challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
